11/17/08 - Chris Clausen Signs Division 1

Chris Clausen’s heading Division 1 next season to continue his basketball career with the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux, in Grand Forks, ND. Chris, a NIACC sophomore from Adelaide, Australia, is not only a key statistical leader for the Trojan’s thus far in the season; he is also a solid team leader. It is because of these two key factors that Chris is taking such strides in the world of collegiate basketball.

NIACC’s head men’s basketball coach, Mark Mohl, said “they are very happy for Chris; he has worked very hard to earn a spot on a Division 1 team. They are very excited for him to not only get to play at this level, but to also get the opportunity to play for the same school that his dad once did, where he holds Hall of Fame honors. This is something very well deserved.” Chris, likewise, commented that he is “very happy to not only play for a Division 1 school, but more importantly it means a lot to be following in my father’s footsteps.”

Not only will Chris be playing for a school that his dad was once a part of, he will also get to play for former NIACC head coach, Bryan Martin, who left NIACC this year for an assistant coaching position at North Dakota.  NIACC would like to congratulate Chris on his accomplishments and wish him the best of luck and success in his future athletic and academic endeavors.
